In Conjunction with our exhibition Michael Newhall: Facing It

Join us for this Mindfulness Meditation session to cultivate present moment attention. With mindfulness we can live more intentionally and with added ease. In class we review several mindful meditation compassion practices, emphasizing self-compassion, in order to bring emotional balance and foster purpose-driven actions. Research supports a multitude of health benefits too, like reducing stress, anxiety, and cortisol levels. This class includes explanation of techniques, guided mindful meditations with crystal singing bowls, and short small group discussion. Some knowledge of mindfulness practice is helpful but not necessary.

About the Instructor:

Jacqueline Janz

Mindfulness and meditation created ease and changed my life view, by opening my heart. My reaction to stress and negatives in our environment started to dominate and cloud my days. Relief came through practicing and learning mindfulness meditation for the last 25 years. My passion, practice and studies grew, leading me to teach for the last 10 years. After several high stress jobs in marketing and communications, I retired to dedicate additional time to teaching and practicing. Mindfulness meditation inspires me; I so enjoy sharing the journey and teaching research backed wellness techniques.

With much gratitude, I studied with renowned teachers, Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield, and received their two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certificate. Several other courses strongly influenced me including Vipassana meditation with S.N. Goenka; Pema Chodron’s the Way of the Bodhisattva; and UMASS Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction’s seven day intensive.
