Join us for an exciting hands-on blacksmithing workshop led by the talented artist Ryan Send. This in-person event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25 - 27 starting at 9 a.m. All participants must be 18+.

During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn the ancient art of blacksmithing and create your own forged nail, hook or small decorative piece. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, Ryan will guide you through the process, sharing his expertise and techniques including: twisting, tapers, upsets, scrolling, hot cutting, hot punching, chisel work, cold connections.

You will leave the workshop with an understanding of traditional techniques and leave with a newfound appreciation for metalwork.

This immersive experience includes free tickets to visit the Villa Terrace Decorative Art Museum to see historical master smith Cyril Colnik’s decorative iron work at your leisure. Tickets will be handed out at the end of the workshop.
Please note this class is a two-day event and lasts all day. Please pack a lunch!

We will meet at the Villa Terrace Art Museum on Saturday, Aug 26 at 9 a.m. and transition to the forge at UW-Milwaukee's main campus. On Sunday, class will begin at the forge!
