Renaissance Garden Opening | Café Sopra Mare

Back to Events

June 02, 2019 | 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Please join the Museum and the Friends of Villa Terrace for the official opening of the Renaissance Garden. The Demmer-Neptune Gate will be open for entry at Lincoln Memorial Drive, in addition to the Museum's main entrance on Terrace Avenue.

The Friends of Villa Terrace have family fun planned in the garden from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. Children's activities will be available throughout the day and food and drink will be available for purchase from various vendors.

From 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. compositions from Present Music's Creation Project/Compose Milwaukee will be performed. Professional musicians and students from Ronald Regan IB High School, Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, Bradley Tech High School and Villa St. Francis & St. Joseph Academy will perform unique and truly inspirational music written together this past year.

Thank you very much, Present Music will be presenting student compositions from 1:30-3:30pm. The program consists of string quartets from students at Ronald Reagan High School and performed by students at the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra – a truly inspiring collaboration of talented young local musicians. Beginning and ending the performance, we will also hear the Ronald Reagan High School Choir perform their classmate Lauren Barta’s new work titled Dreamily.

Sunday also marks the beginning of our weekly summer music series, Café Sopra Mare. See performances each Sunday from June through September in the Villa Terrace's Mercury Courtyard. Music starts at 10:30 AM. Coffee and refreshments available from Valentine Coffee.
