Tension features new work by Milwaukee blacksmith and Villa Artist-in-Residence Ryan Send. Working off his thesis, Send experiments with steel to create a sense of movement and false perception. Emerging from the void, Send's steel "organisms" exaggerate the quirks of the space they are invading to create a sense of uncanniness.

Tension opens Oct. 20 and runs through Dec. 24.

About the Artist
Ryan Send is a blacksmith whose practice explores our perception of space and design. Using traditional blacksmithing techniques, Send creates dynamic installations of "organisms" designed to playfully draw the eye to the faults and features of their "habitat." Exploiting the visual fallacies of perception and familiarity, Send elevates the mundane and imperfect to the level of a decorative object.
